Press Release 27.5.2021
This year, Finnish design house Pentik, celebrating its 50th anniversary, wants to make art accessible to everyone. Pentik-mäki and Pentik Manor in Posio offer numerous cultural experiences this summer without separate entrance fees. In honor of the anniversary year, Anu Pentik's story and works can also be explored at the WAM Turku City Art Museum exhibition and, starting in September, at the Rovaniemi Theater.

Pentik's own, the world's northernmost ceramic factory, and the candle workshop operating in conjunction with the factory are located in Posio, which has also grown into a popular tourist destination over the years. Pentik-mäki attracted tens of thousands of visitors last summer, and the summer of 2021 is expected to be an even livelier tourist season.

A few "reindeer pees" away, or about 20 kilometers from Pentik-mäki, lies a 160-year-old former reindeer farm that has been renovated into Pentik Manor. Located on the shore of Lake Timisjärvi, the manor now serves as an art home, guest atelier, and exhibition and event venue. In the summer, the manor offers art experiences for all ages. This summer's exhibition at the manor is titled "White". Families can jointly participate in creating the "Inchworm" mosaic artwork during supervised children's mosaic days. On the shore of Lake Timisjärvi, there is a stage covered by a sail canopy, where music and theater performances are held. The manor's summer café is famous for its popular waffles. In addition, local food is also available: pie made from the harvest of their own nettle cultivation and tea from self-grown herbs.

The family business's anniversary year is also Anu Pentik's artist jubilee year, culminating in the "In the Beginning Was a Seed" exhibition opening in June at the WAM Turku City Art Museum. The exhibition features several site-specific art installations, including the work "Seeds," where 1,500 ceramic dandelion seeds float in the air. In September, Anu Pentik's life story can be explored at the Rovaniemi Theater when the play "Anu P.," written and directed by Hanna Ojala, premieres on September 11, 2021.
"Pentik's summer is full of events. We want to support the vitality of the Posio region, create jobs, and offer diverse cultural experiences respecting the environment and the region's cultural heritage now and in the future. All events are free of charge, except for concerts and workshops requiring registration. This summer, the cultural offerings are more diverse than ever before," says Pentik CEO Riikka Wulff.
Summer is set in stores – domestic ceramics are this year's cottage gift hit
Pentik has 48 stores that offer expert service and versatile solutions ranging from summer table settings or gifts to home decor. All Pentik stores across Finland are running a Summer Pass collection campaign from June 7th to August 15th, where you receive a pass with your first purchase and then a discount-entitling stamp for purchases over 50 euros. Discounts accumulate from 10 percent on the second purchase to a 30 percent discount given with the sixth purchase.
"Summer table settings emphasize flowers and bright colors. Nature and creativity take over homes. Lush and colorful summer rooms and sprawling, abundant garden oases are now being created both in the heart of nature at cottages and on small balconies in the middle of the city. The hit product for cottage gifts is domestic ceramics, especially cups and bowls, which are easy to carry out on a floral Aurora or Vaahtera series tray and set the table with a tablecloth from the same series," says Pentik's Design Director Luisa Laine.
Combining new and old items is also on the rise in interior design. Pentik has a vintage store in Posio, located in connection with the factory outlet, where you can find treasures from past decades.
