Controller and acceptance of cookies

This cookie privacy policy complements Pentik Oy’s ("controller") other data protection practice documents.

The controller may use cookie information on the pentik.com website. A cookie is a small text file that the internet browser stores on the user's device. Cookies are used, for example, when user data needs to be retained as the user moves from one page of an internet service to another. With the help of cookies, the controller obtains general information, among other things, about the use of its online service, visitor numbers, and other data trails related to the use of the online service, which the controller can use to improve its services.

The user can prevent cookies from functioning through their browser settings if they wish. By preventing the functioning of cookies, the user accepts that not all functions or features of the website (such as the shopping cart function of the online store) may be available to the user.

Purposes of use

The controller typically uses information collected with cookies for the following purposes:

Functionality and service production: Cookies are essential for the operation of the website and electronic services, enabling a smooth user experience. For example, the user does not have to enter usernames, passwords, and personalization choices every time they log in to the service.

Service development: The controller monitors the use of the website with cookies and can use this to improve the functionality of the website and electronic services. For example, the controller obtains information about which parts of the website are most popular, where users go, or from which website they arrive, and how long they stay there.

Analysis: The controller uses cookies to collect statistics on the number of visitors to the website and electronic services, and to calculate the effectiveness of advertising. The controller may collect information, for example, from marketing emails and newsletters to find out whether the messages have been opened and whether actions have been taken based on them, such as navigating to the controller's website.

Targeting marketing: With the help of cookies, the controller can also collect information to produce advertising or content targeted to a specific browser by creating different target groups.

The controller may combine personal data obtained through cookies with information obtained in other contexts, such as information about services in use, to the extent permitted by law. The controller may also combine information obtained through cookies with customer data to target relevant and interesting direct marketing and online advertising to the customer and to offer personalized content.

Information collected

The controller collects, among other things, the following information with the help of cookies:

  • Product information of products added to the shopping cart and information about purchases made through the online store.
  • Page browsing and search information.
  • Usage and browsing information of service features.
  • Advertisements shown and information about clicking on advertisements.
  • The page, server, and web identifier from which the user navigated to the pages, device model, unique device and/or cookie identifier, internet browser, mobile browser, application, browser version, IP address, session identifier, session time and duration, as well as screen resolution and operating system.
  • Device or user-specific identifiers.
  • Other information collected with the user's consent.

Cookies used, third-party service providers, and communities

The controller's websites may contain links and connections to third-party service providers' websites, products, and services. These services and applications provided by third parties are subject to the third parties' privacy statements.

The controller's websites may also contain third-party cookies or other similar technologies with which these actors collect information to provide targeted advertising to the user or to create statistics and analyses of website visitor numbers. Such information may be collected, for example, by various advertising networks and advertisers, as well as by providers of services related to visitor tracking or measurement. These third parties may manage their cookies and the information collected with them as if the user were on their sites. The controller strives through contractual arrangements to ensure that third parties comply with current legislation, official regulations and instructions, and industry self-regulation guidelines.

Google Analytics

The pentik.com website uses the Google Analytics service. Google Analytics uses cookies in its text data, and such a cookie is stored on the registered person's computer, which enables analysis of the site's use. The information provided by the cookie about the use of the site (only the IP address, which has been anonymized) is sent and stored on Google's server in the United States. Google uses this information to evaluate the use of the site, reporting to the controller on usage frequency and services related to internet use. Google may also provide this information to third parties if requested for legal reasons, or if these third parties work with Google's data. Google will not forward the registered person's IP address in connection with other information. The user can prevent cookies from being stored by adjusting their internet browser settings, but in this case, the user cannot use all the functions of the website. By using the site, you give your consent for Google to collect information in the manner described above and for the purposes mentioned above. If the user does not want to share information about website use with the Google Analytics service, the user can download a separate add-on for their browser from Google's website.

Social media icons

The pentik.com website uses image links for Facebook, Instagram, YouTube, and Pinterest, among others. The icons are recognizable by the logos of the respective social media. When the user visits the controller's website, these icons connect the user's browser and server directly to these services. In this case, these services receive information that the controller's website has been visited via the user's IP address. If the user is logged into social media and clicks an icon, information that the user has visited the controller's website may be stored on the user's social media account. If the user uses these services and does not want the service provider to collect information about their internet traffic, the user must always log out of social media services before coming to the controller's website. As the provider of the Pentik.com website, the controller does not become aware of the content of the data transferred about its customers or how social media service providers use this data. More information about what data is transferred to each service via the links can be obtained from the privacy terms of each service separately.
